- Noms of Hong Kong: Grassroots Pantry -

Finally made my way to Grassroots Pantry, and its absolutely beautiful, the interior design with the plants was just stunning. Would definitely come back and enjoy a cup of healthy juice with a friend.

Came for lunch during the weekday and the lunch deal, $158 which includes a daily soup, starter, main and a cup of coffee or tea is so worth it!

Starter: An ethnic plate (Dal Makhani, Moroccan Carrot Salad, Pap-en-vleis berbere stew, pickled kohlrabi, wild arugula salad, and Teff Ingera)

Truth be told, I’m not entirely sure what exactly this dish is composed of. But oh my gosh. Its so good. I definitely recommend this if you haven’t been here before, the seasoning is on point and you won’t even know that you’re eating a vegan dish.

Main: Chinese ‘lamb’ stew (Chinese seasonal vegetables, fermented tofu kiffir dressing, steamed brown rice).

Again, amazing. The taste of the traditional lamb pot was mimicked perfectly. The pot was filled with mushrooms, beancurd sheets, and chestnuts. Didn’t even know the absence of meat! It taste exactly like traditional lamb pot, it’s incredible and I honestly cannot stop thinking about this. A great option for someone who is starting to be vegetarian or wants to start eating less meat. Definitely recommend.

Came back for brunch with my boyfriend on Valentine’s Day. We both ordered egg dishes, although I really wanted to try the quinoa porridge as well, which gives me an excuse to come back again :P

Poached Eggs and Smashed Avocado (Flax Dukkah, cashew hollandaise, B.E. multigrain)

Eggs poached perfectly. A ton of smashed avocado. And the hollandaise sauce was delicious, creamy but not overly buttery to the point where I feel sick (which is often the case with the normal hollandaise sauce). So good. A top notch basic brunch dish.

8.5/10

Baked Eggs and ‘Steak’ (Dal Makhani, Pap-en-vleis Berbere Stew, leafy greens, B.E. Multigrain)

Whatever is in that berbere stew, I absolutely love it. It was also in the ethnic plate and the taste of the meat is mimicked perfectly with a perfectly seasoned stew. So damn good. And with the eggs, oh my, its so good.

I absolutely love this place! Highly highly recommend, even if you're not vegetarian, I'm sure you will love it. This is the place to go if you're trying meatless mondays!
