- Noms of Hong Kong: CHA:RM -

Korean food is one of my favourite cuisines and there are tons in Tsim Sha Tsui. However, I heard from one of my friends that this place in Tai Wo, CHA:RM is not only cheap but also really good.

You can tell that it’s a family based Korean restaurant (which I love), the son was in the storefront, and the mom was cooking (she came out after lunch hour was over). It also had soft Korean music playing in the background, but I personally loved the atmosphere of the restaurant. The place was filled with quotes, pictures, and avenger models that gave this place a very relaxed vibe (it also really reminded me of a café).

We decided to order 4 dishes between two of us, yachae gimbap, kimchi jeon, ramyeon, and cheese gyeran mari.

Starting from the top and left to right: Kimchi Jeon (Kimchi Pancake), Yachae Gimbap (Vegetable Seaweed Roll), Raymeon (Korean Ramen), and Cheese Gyeran Mari (Cheese Egg Roll).

One of the favourite things I love about this restaurant was the wide variety of gimbap they had. I love gimbap as I think its quite a home dish and sometimes the Korean restaurants that I go to often lack this or have a very limited choice. I honestly would come back to try the different variations of gimbap and the vegetable gimbap was pretty good.

Yachae Gimbap

The kimchi jeon had a bit too much flour and it was slightly too oily. I wouldn’t order this again but I heard that the seafood pancake here was better!

Kimchi Jeon

The cheese gyeran mari was amazing. I’m not a fan of cheese but this wasn’t cheesy at all and the egg roll was nice and thick. It was perfect. This is a must try if you ever come here.

Cheese Gyeran Mari

The ramyeon was average, nothing special.

Ramyeon

It wasn’t expensive as well and the portion of the appetizers were big as well (apart from the kimchi that came in the beginning, which there was hardly any of). The food was amazing, filling, and the atmosphere was nice! I would definitely come back here again.
